Located just before you enter Oostende (ideal from Nieuwpoort!). Walk through the best-preserved remains of the German defense line from the World Wars. An impressive open-air museum in the dunes.

3. The Dune Forests (Duinbossen)

Between De Haan and Wenduine, you will find a vast nature reserve of 152 hectares where forest, dunes, and sea merge. It is one of the few places on the coast where you can walk so sheltered, making it a perfect destination for a long trip in nature, even on windy days.

4. The Tram Station

This historic station from 1902 is an architectural gem and the only coastal tram station still standing in its original location. The building breathes the atmosphere of the past and is beautifully maintained, making it the perfect place for a nostalgic holiday photo before you get on the tram.

5. The Spioenkop

For the best view of the region, climb this 31-meter high dune near Wenduine. On top stands a white pavilion with a red roof. After the climb, you are rewarded with a phenomenal panoramic view: on one side you look out over the endless sea, on the other side over the green polders.
